Weekly Planning Meeting, 6/26

Highlights 6/26:

Xanadu blazed ahead rather stunningly this week. The standing
ovation goes to ravi, who essentially completed sensors--a huge
series of tasks we had expected to take a couple of months. Unbelievable!
And on top of that he completed the high-efficiency version of
sensors, so that thousands of them can be dropped into the pool
with impugnity--an improvement we had planned to postpone until
performance engineering. Tripendicular!

Nor was ravi the only person to complete important milestones.
The big congratulations this week go to roger, dean, hill, markm
and roland. Roger got fm running under Open Look, at least enough
to display text in the text pane of a Tapestry passage. Dean
continued to make steady progress on components needed to write
to disk, by getting dagwoods to snarf, and by getting the ent
to say "may commit". Mr. hill completed what I think may be our
first performance improvement: he was able to get some inlines
working, enough to get an 18% increase in throughput (which was
instantly consumed by ravi and dean with other changes they made
:-) Markm has restarts working, for which he attributes much
credit to roland for the ease with which stubble adapted to the
new requirements; meanwhile, roland integrated the new parser
with the crutch.

Meetings: Hill, michael, markm, assign number. Dean, hill, markm,
June 7.1 version. Dean, ravi, roger, hugh, fm stuff. Ravi, markm,
marcs, filters. Roger, markm, stubble shrinking. Joel, marcs,
sue, applying for developer program. Marcs, chip, 4.1 on Victoria.
Michael, dean, markm, LRU on RAM objects (snarfs, flocks, etc).
Markm, dean, discuss booting.
